Panel 1: Emi moves her hands to her hips as Daniel slumps over, folding in on himself as he stares down at the tabletop. Emi says, "Well."
Panel 2: A glimpse of Daniel's open laptop peeks out from the panel corner. Emi tilts her head up slightly to look down her nose at it as she asks, "What are you working on, anyway?"
Panel 3: Daniel quickly goes to close his laptop. He's smiling, but it's to hide his sudden panic. He lies, "N-nothing! Just, ah, emailing one of my professors."
Panel 4: Daniel's laptop screen is on an open email between a D.A. and William Hargrave. From what can be seen of the subject line, it reads, "Re: Personals > m4m > New in town, new..."
The first email, from William, reads, "Saw your post, pretty cute f..."
The second email, a reply from Daniel, reads, "Thanks. You said you're only availble on the 1st? ...a restaurant in South Loop. If that works, let me kno... time and and I can be there."
The final email from William says only, "4pm."
To his mother, Daniel continues to lie, "He wanted to know how I was settling in over here."
Panel 5: Emi looks like she's mid-huff as she says briskly, "Well, that’s thoughtful of him. Be sure to tell him thank you."
Panel 6: Emi has walked past Daniel to fetch her coat and purse. She doesn't turn around to ask, "Walk me to the curb?"
Daniel motions to get out of his chair as he replies, shakily, "S-sure."
I know I am very choosy about which bits of era nostalgia I get real picky about accuracy with, and the gmail UI here was one of them, haha!!
And if you're wondering how Daniel's meeting went, well. You already know!

Finally, looks like this is the last update for the month, which means newsletter subscribers will be getting all of January's pages in their inbox soon! This is my not-so-subtle way of advertising that there is a Keeping Time newsletter, and if that's how you'd prefer to get your pages, then by all means!
Pros: four to five pages, all at once, straight to your inbox makes for an arguably more seamless reading experience! Cons: You don't get to see all my fun commentary* or participate in the really cool community we're growing here in the comments. :( (I mean, you could always click through the page from the email to its corresponding page here on the site and come leave some comments that way... just saying... wink wink)
